Living the Glass Age i Dutch glass biennale

Met deze biënnale willen we glas in de kunst een platform bieden. In Nederland zijn er relatief weinig podia voor specifiek glas in de kunst, maar wij willen daar verandering in brengen.
We geloven dat beeldende kunst met glas meer de aandacht verdient van het brede kunstminnende, nieuwsgierige publiek. Het materiaal glas heeft unieke en fascinerende eigenschappen die in de beeldende kunst van toegevoegde waarde zijn.
Living the Glass Age zet samen met 28 professionele kunstenaars de toepassing van glas in de kunst breder op de kaart. Living the Glass Age deelt ook kennis en vergroot het bewustzijn van de technieken en processen die bij het maken van objecten van glas komen kijken. Door een VERDIEPEND PROGRAMMA met lezingen, demonstraties, performances, rondleidingen en een workshop aan te bieden, willen we mensen inspireren en enthousiasmeren om zelf de wereld van glas te verkennen.

CONNECTED – THROUGH GLASS – INTO THE FUTURE
Hedendaagse beeldend kunstenaars omarmen steeds meer en meer het glas als middel om hun werk te versterken. Wij hebben kunstenaars uitgenodigd vanuit verschillende achtergronden. Er zijn kunstenaars die glas niet als hun voornaamste materiaal gebruiken en er zijn kunstenaars die in de basis opgeleid zijn om te werken met glas. Daarnaast is er de Open Call voor kunstacademie studenten met de Nederlandse nationaliteit of wonend in Nederland die dit jaar afstuderen of alumni van de afgelopen 3 jaar.
Al deze kunstenaars inspireren elkaar en het publiek met innovatief en sterk werk.

With this biennial we want to offer glass in art a platform. In the Netherlands there are relatively few venues for specific glass in art, but we want to change that.
We believe that visual art with glass deserves more attention from the wider art-loving, curious public. The material glass has unique and fascinating properties that add value in visual art.
Living the Glass Age, together with 28 professional artists, is putting the application of glass in art more broadly on the map. Living the Glass Age also shares knowledge and increases awareness of the techniques and processes involved in making objects from glass. By offering a ADDITIONAL PROGRAM of lectures, demonstrations, performances, tours and a workshop, we want to inspire and enthuse people to explore the world of glass for themselves.

Contemporary visual artists are increasingly embracing glass as a means of enhancing their work. We have invited artists from a variety of backgrounds. There are artists who do not use glass as their primary material, and there are artists who are fundamentally trained to work with glass. There is also the Open Call for art academy students with Dutch nationality or living in the Netherlands who are graduating this year or alumni from the past 3 years.
